Tasting Notes
A great nose full of citrus with light yeasty aromas. The taste delivers a fresh lime flavour with hints of grapefruit served with a fine creamy mousse that is fresh and vibrant superb.
About
From hand-picked grapes this wine is a careful blend of the famous sparkling wine grapes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. They are fermented separately before being blended and aged for 15-18 months in bottle on the yeast lees. After the final stages when the wines are disgorged (which involves freezing and removing the wine and sediment in the neck - the bottles are upside down) and the corks and capsules put in, the wines are ready for market.
Having faced huge challenges to set up South Africa's first sparkling wine whose production is modelled on all the same methods as champagne, Graham Beck succeeded in creating one of the world's best non-champagne sparklers. With numerous accolades and awards, the NV Brut was also served at Nelson Mandela's inauguration.
